The metabolic syndrome (MS) is a condition characterized by a cluster of risk factors for cardiovascular disease. The availability of a diet with high energy levels and sedentary lifestyle are the two environmental factors most associated with increased prevalence of obesity and its comorbidities, become, therefore, an important public health problem. Camu-camu (Myrciaria dubia (Kunth) McVaugh) is a native fruit of the Amazon that has a high content of vitamin C, surpassing other citrus, and contain phenolic compounds. In this context, this study aimed to investigate the impact of supplementation of camu-camu consumption (Myrciaria dubia (Kunth) McVaugh) lyophilized. Participated in the double-blind experimental study 58 adult subjects (20-59 years), male and female, obese patients, the municipal health center Sílvio Botelho, Boa Vista-RR. The groups were formed: experimental (EG) and control (CG). The received EG - camu camu capsule, containing approximately 442 mg of vitamin C for 45 days and received the GC capsule (placebo) for the same period. It was prescribed diet balanced hipocalória associated with regular physical activity for all participants. The study showed a significant improvement (p = 0.013) in physical activity and indicators of the diagnosis of MS, such as: significant decrease (p = 0.012) blood pressure, triglycerides (p = 0.011), waist circumference (p = 0.038) and significant (p = 0.001) HDL-c of the Participants GE, however, there was no significant weight reduction weight loss. It suggests the insertion of this Amazonian fruit diet for better control of some indicators in the development of chronic diseases linked to obesity and its complications.
