Escola e espaço obesogênico na cidade de Manaus

Resumo

It is expressively in the urban area that obesity has taken on increasing epidemic proportions, developing chronic diseases and triggering metabolic syndromes in the population, which seemed to be individualized cases of excess weight, which began to spread throughout society, not virally, but in a complex way, since it is considered a non-transmissible disease, but it affects the population indiscriminately. Thus, in this research, we approach the phenomenon of obesity broadly, considering that it is present in several food environments, some clearly classified as an obesogenic environment, others allowing the transit of obesity. Analyzing the school as a tributary environment in forming an obesogenic space was the objective of this research. Obesity is a multifactorial disease, growing and with unsatisfactory treatments due to its recurrence. So our journey was to investigate the environmental influence on the disease with geographic knowledge. Therefore, such an analysis seeks to understand the evolution of diseases worldwide and nationally until arriving in Manaus, in the Amazon region, identifying events that influence the phenomenon. Understanding the geographical distribution of the disease was aligned with existing public policies to combat it, both in the health and education systems. Reflection on the existence of Environmental Intelligence led us to interpret the existence of interpolation between environments on a macro scale, forming the obesogenic space. The contextualization of the problem sought to cover the knowledge of other scientific areas, such as biology, ecology, psychology, health, neuroscience, and computing. Interdisciplinarity was an analysis tool identifying the occurrence of overweight and obesity in public schools in the municipality, using the Body Mass Index (BMI), which was obtained from anthropometric data collected from students in the state education network. Through the Health at School Program, the Ministry of Health made students in the capital's urban area available electronically, becoming public domain. The research provided an understanding of the obesogenic space since obesity transits in the natural and virtual world, based on environmental intelligence.
