Aspectos qualitativos e temporais da habilidade de escrever a mão em estudantes do curso de Licenciatura em Educação Física: um estudo de caracterização

Abstract

Writing is a basic element for universal communication. Slow and/or illegible writing can be characterized as dysgraphia, being a deficit in graphic tracing and has no connection with neurological deficits. This, if left untreated, can negatively influence the developmental trajectory of human beings. The aim of this study is to characterize the handwriting ability of university students taking the Bachelor's degree in Physical Education. 100 students of both biological sexes participated, aged between 18 and 40 years old, at a Higher Education Institution in the North of Brazil. The selection of participants was random and stratified by academic periods. We use the Lorenzini Dysgraphia Scale (EDL) and the Detailed Assessment of Speed of Handwriting – DASH, which measure the qualitative and temporal aspects respectively. Data analysis is descriptive based on absolute and relative frequencies of cases. To determine the statistical values that will best represent the present sample, we used the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and adopted p≤ 0.05 as the significance value. It was observed that the participants, in the qualitative and temporal aspect, did not show signs of dysgraphia and showed fast writing speed, given the classifications, there were items in the EDL that stood out for future scientific research. Given this, with a teaching perspective, to expand academic and school knowledge, the present study shows that fine motor skills in adults are defined by educational advancement as children, presenting definitive individual motor characteristics, resulting in developed and fast writing.
