Trabalho profissional do assistente social e desastres: estudo na Política de Assistência Social do município de Barreirinha/AM

Abstract

Social Assistance Policy has been an important field of work for many social workers since the early days of the profession. Within the scope of managing social policies, in situations of emergency and public calamity, the services performed need to be well articulated from the perspective of intersectoriality. In this study, we sought to address, particularly, emergency situations and public calamities arising from river floods in the state of Amazonas, given their intensification over the years, with negative impacts on the lives of the population. The municipality of Barreirinha/AM is an example of this process because it is located in a floodplain area, where for several years it was deeply affected by the natural phenomenon of water. It is in this Amazonian context that the present study was carried out, which aimed to discuss the place of intersectoriality in the management of social policies, specifically in the Social Assistance Policy, focusing on the work of the social worker in this socio-occupational space. Thus, the study aimed to understand the professional work in intersectoral actions to face emergency situations and public calamities in the municipality of Barreirinha, since these situations present themselves as demands for intervention by the profession. Regarding the methodological procedures, this is an explanatory type of research, with a quantitative and qualitative approach based on a mixed approach, through bibliographical, documental and field research. The research subjects (key informants) were Social Service professionals in the city of Barreirinha/AM (locus of study), specifically the Municipal Social Assistance Secretariat (SEMAS); Social Assistance Reference Centers (CRAS); Specialized Reference Centers for Social Assistance (CREAS). The study covered the totality of six (06) existing professionals in the aforementioned public facilities of municipal social assistance. Regarding the main results, it is possible to say that the social worker meets the most varied demands in the field of disasters, going to the place, doing the studies and knowing the reality experienced by the affected people, unfolding to carry out his work in a qualified way, even in view of the difficulties regarding materials and structure, planning of actions to be carried out and the integrality of actions that envisage intersectoriality, it is a field of challenges, which demands the strengthening of the theoretical-methodological, ethical-political and technical-operative dimensions, emphasizing the critical reading of the reality that presents itself so that the actions do not end up in fragmentation and immediacy.
