Resumo
The growing concern about the conservation and valuation of the Amazonian forest species, together with the discovery of new substances from these species, has become increasingly active. The group "Plants of the Amazon: Chemistry, Chemistry and Biological Activity" (INPA) develops phytochemical investigations from wood residues. In this study the species Cedrela odorata L. (Meliaceae) was evaluated. The material, from demolition, was made available by the INCT Madeiras da Amazônia project through the LTM, after previous identification and used in chemical research and evaluation of antifungal activity. After the chromatographic fractionations and analysis by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, the work with the hexane extract resulted in the isolation of sesquiterpene cadalene (1); (2), α and β-amirenone (3 and 4) and butyrospermol acetate (5); of steroids β-sitosterol and stigmasterol (6 and 7), besides the isolation of the mexicanolída limonoide (8). Fractionation with methanolic extract led to the isolation of the gonadal limonide (9). When considering the high biological potential of the limonoids, the antifungal test with mexicanolide against the strains of Cryptococcus neoformans (VNI WM 148/08), Cryptococcus gattii (VGII WM 178/08) and Candida albicans (ATCC 13803) were carried out. The mexicanolída limonoide presented greater activity against the strains of C. neoformans (MIC 160 μg / ml) through the broth microdilution technique.
