Desenvolvimento do Amazonas: uma análise da estrutura produtiva do estado a partir do modelo insumo-produto

Resumo

The research analyzed the productive structure of Amazonas and identified the most relevant activity sectors to boost the state's economy. For this, based on the 2015 IPM, an exploratory study was conducted on the intersectoral relations and the impact between the agents that make up the economic system of the region, through input-output indicators, such as Rasmussen-Hirschman linkage indexes, key sectors, field of influence, pure linkage indexes and production, employment, and income multipliers. The analysis showed that the key sectors for production linkages in Amazonas are oil refining and coke; chemicals, resins, and elastomers; rubber and plastic material products; electric power and natural gas; and land transport, which act as important input demanders and product suppliers. The sectors with the greatest effect on production are electric power and natural gas; oil refining and coke; production of meat, dairy products, and fish; chemicals, resins, and elastomers; and cosmetics, perfumes, and personal hygiene. The activities with the greatest capacity to generate local jobs are related to the service sector, agriculture and cattle raising, and traditional industry. The services sector is more relevant for the generation of formal income in the Amazonas economy. The joint analysis of the multisectoral and impact indicators revealed the importance of the manufacturing industry as a driver of regional policies. The results contribute to the rational elaboration of public policies for the economic and social development of Amazonas.
