O ofício farmacêutico na atenção primária à saúde da comunidade surda: desafios e oportunidades

Resumo

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines disability as the loss or abnormality of a psychological, physiological or anatomical structure or function. Among the various disabilities, hearing impairment stands out because of the impact it has on people's social lives. Around 5% of Brazil's population is deaf and some use the Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS) as a communication aid. The aim of this work is to discuss the importance of continuing training for pharmacists to work with the deaf community and what technologies can be used in the health area to assist this public. In order to carry out this work, we analyzed indexed publications from five databases: LILACS, Science Direct, Google Scholar, Lilacs and PUBMED. Articles in English and Portuguese were analyzed from January 2017 to January 2023. The results of the searches pointed to gaps on the part of professionals regarding the use of LIBRAS. Therefore, undergraduate courses in Pharmacy should adapt and include the subject of LIBRAS in their Curricular Matrices as a compulsory component of the course and it is also necessary to develop Assistive Technologies that seek to meet the needs of this public
