Resumo
The experiences in the life of a person with a disability can motivate changes in their body image, since this is the mental representation of body identity and is influenced by physiological, sociological and emotional aspects. These bodily changes can completely change the way the person with a disability views and uses his body during his daily tasks and in his social relationships, and can compromise the development of his self-esteem, self-confidence, autonomy, among other factors. Within this theme we developed this study that aims to analyze the satisfaction of body image in people with physical disabilities who practice regular physical activity. The research is characterized as qualitative quantitative and was carried out through a structured interview on physical disability and body esteem. Result: it was possible to verify that people with physical disabilities are committed to the regular practice of physical activity with an average time of practice in the program 96 months (8 years), average age of 49 years. The results of the five interview questions were balanced and showed us that people with physical disabilities may have difficulties in some aspects of their body image that can cause emotional disorders if they are not worked, but for most participants this does not make them envious of a body without DF and doesn't even make them feel ugly, which we find extremely positive. Favoring aspects of self-acceptance, self-confidence and self-esteem.
