Colonização e civilização na Amazônia: escrita da História e a construção do regional na obra de Arthur Reis (1931 – 1966)

Abstract

The thesis is an analysis of the historical construction of the Amazonia, looking for perceives the historicity of a concept that has been its emergence in a recent period of the Brazilian history. From a questioning of the concept of Amazonia, proceed it to an analysis of how the work of Arthur Reis contributed to sediment a discursive repertoire that conformed this concept as a geographical, cultural and historic specific concept. At last, it looked for understand how the construction of the region and its past by Arthur Reis works as a civilizing proposal for the present.
