A produção da natureza sob a perspectiva do modo de vida camponês na Vila do Jacaré – Manacapuru – Amazonas – Brasil

Abstract

The present work focuses on the geography analysis category: the territory, which in the context of research is (re) produced by the peasantry and consequently results in the production of nature. The place Vila do Jacaré, located in the rural area in the city of Manacapuru, state of Amazonas - Brazil constitutes as object of study. The purpose of this paper is, in short, to contribute to the survey of the history of places and / or small cities in the Amazon as well as to understand the way that individuals live in rural areas throughout the Amazon and to contribute to the studies of the peasantry in the Amazon. First we focus on raising the history of the place Vila do Jacaré, and bring the reader to know it through the dialogues and iconographic surveys presented, aiming to bring the perception about the dynamics and the process of growth in the village. Secondly, we will discuss the peasant relations, the daily life of the residents, which is permeated by obligations such as work for the family subsistence, understanding the reality and the singularities of the relationships that permeate the transformation of nature into territory. And finally, we propose a profile of the residents arranged in graphs where we will also present the public policies carried out by state agencies or not, but that brought changes in the modus and daily life of the residents and somehow contribute to the perpetuation of the peasantry. Therefore, on the case study, we can say that (1) the former “Boca do Jacaré” had its accelerated urban growth between 2000 and 2010, this expansion was driven by exploration of açaí and this trade directly influences the relationship of inhabitants with nature; (2) the peasants obey the hydrological calendar of the rivers, dedicate themselves to multi-functions to guarantee family sustenance (3) the survey showed that many residents are migrants, several are beneficiaries of INCRA and other government social assistance programs all socioeconomic characteristics show an aptitude for the perpetuation of the peasantry in place.
