Resumo

Introduction: Musculoskeletal symptoms (OS) range from muscle and joint pain to more serious problems, such as repetitive strain injuries and occupational diseases related to poor posture and overuse of certain muscle groups. One of the main factors contributing to OR in teachers is prolonged static posture. Objectives: To identify the anatomical regions with the highest incidence of OR in teachers in the rural area of the municipality of Coari - AM, through an online questionnaire sent via messaging application. To evaluate remotely in the professors: weekly workload, weekly physical activity, which OR led to the withdrawal from their activities in the last six months, and which OR led to the search for help from a health professional in the last six months. Methodology: The sample consisted of 49 teachers from rural areas of Coari, registered with SEMED - Coari (Municipal Department of Education of Coari). The study was carried out in a virtual environment, with the link sent by SEMED to the WhatsApp messaging application of teachers in the rural areas of Coari. The link gave access to the questionnaires hosted on the Google Forms platform. Results: The most affected anatomical region was found to be the lumbar, with 34.6% of teachers reporting avoiding normal activities due to symptoms. In addition, 24.4% had sought a health professional in the last six months, with the lumbar, shoulder, thoracic spine and knee regions being the most associated with seeking help. Conclusion: The data of this study show the relevance of OR among teachers in the rural area of Coari - AM, with emphasis on the high prevalence of pain in the lumbar region. These findings indicate the need for greater attention to the health of this professional class, especially in contexts where working conditions may be more challenging, such as in rural areas.
