Abstract

This research treated the daily life of a portion of the population of Manaus and their survival strategies, surrounded by regulatory constraints, cultural and coexistence, forward the implementation of the Republic and during the Belle Époque of Manaus. As the dynamics of its relations with the elites and authorities, during the process of urban and architectural transformation, founded during the rubber economy, between the years 1897 and 1923. This analyse was made from the processes of protection contained in the former in the Orphan‘s Judge, an institution that decides about direction to be given to orphans or wards, future citizens Brazilian republican.
