"Representantes" indígenas no Estado brasileiro: análise da trajetória participativa da Coordenação das Organizações Indígenas da Amazônia Brasileira nas esferas do indigenismo estatal

Abstract

This dissertation aims to reflect about the modes of entrance and action of indigenous leaders in the Brazilian State, from the political model of State indigenism marked by the decentralization of indigenist policy executed by the National Indian Foundation – FUNAI, which has been carried out by government management in accordance with the principles of “participatory democracy”. In this sense, the research was constructed based on diverse ethnographic sources that encompass institutional documents of the Coordination of the Indigenous Organizations of the Brazilian Amazon – COIAB, as well as the trajectories of indigenous leaders that participated and/or participate in the construction and implementation of public policies for indigenous peoples. Their testimonies were collected not only through direct interviews with the studied “subjects”, but also through public discourse given in events regarding indigenous issues. In order to comprehend this study it is necessary to consider that the ethnographic data analyzed goes beyond the anthropological methodology-theoretical framework, as it involves my trajectory as a Kambeba Indian with effective family participation in the indigenous movement, including experience with indigenous and indigenist policies. In this way, I sought to analytically form the “teia de relação” (network of relations) between the indigenous leaders of COIAB and its dynamics in the production of relations of power, in order to comprehend the entrance of indigenous peoples into the State spheres.
