Comunidade Rural Bom Jesus do Bacuri: memórias, experiências e luta pela terra 1971-2013

Resumo

This research analyzes the social and political organization of the community "Bom Jesus do Bacuri", located in the rural area of the Municipality of Tefé / AM, located in Lake Tefé in the region of Middle Solimões. We began with a reflection about the process of historical formation of the community, seeking to understand the changes experienced by the residents from 1971 when they became residents of a "community", through a formalized organization process, through which they developed new forms of organization, evidenced by the creation of a community association. Next, we show the main actions carried out by the residents in this association, highlighting one of their main achievements: the land. Our objective was to highlight, through memory and experiences, the protagonism of families, as well as their tactics of resistance to succeed in circumventing the impositions of Lázaro Rodrigues, considered the true owner of the land where the community was established. Finally, we show that the organization of the community took place in other informal ways, in which the villagers also take an active role and are based on their own needs, the way in which they develop their work. For this, we have a body of documentary sources, both oral and written (such as minutes of meetings, community association statute, title demarcation of the Bacuri area, MEB activity reports and photographs). From this diversity of sources, it was possible to verify the changes that occurred in the ways of life of this community, as well as the two forms of organization that exist simultaneously.
