Resumo
The population has barriers and facilitators to achieving adequate levels of
physical activity (PA) in their routines. Barriers make participation difficult, while
facilitators promote adherence to PA. Thinking about the transgender population (TG)
that presents specific characteristics, it became necessary to identify which
these factors would be. Characterized as a cross-sectional epidemiological study, with
collection from 2022/2. The analysis included descriptive statistics, factor analysis and test
from Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin. The internal consistency of the scale was monitored using alpha
Cronbach, demonstrating high reliability of the study. A questionnaire was administered
online. 28 individuals over the age of 18 participated, who identified themselves as TG and
reside in Brazil. With the following characteristics: 50% transgender men,
67.9% under the age of 30, 60.7% of mixed ethnicity, 85.7% single, 57.1%
with complete secondary education and 60.7% with an income of up to three minimum wages. To the
main barriers identified were the lack of involvement of friends in PA, the
lack of sensitivity among professionals and lack of inclusive LGBTQ+ outreach. Per
On the other hand, the main facilitators were the desire to have an active and healthy body
and support from friends and family. No direct relationship was observed between
education and income with adherence to PA practice. Thus highlighting the
importance of support received from friends, family and professionals, as well as
promotion of inclusive sports centers for the LGBTQ+ community, in order to
promote the continued growth of PA practice among the TG population.
