Ritos de vida e morte no âmbito evangélico neopentecostal na cidade de Manaus

Resumo

This thesis presents an anthropological look at the protagonism of life/death rites of passage in the neopentecostal context in the city of Manaus, and analyzes to what extent such rites contribute to the (re)creation and legitimation of the neopentecostal ethos of the Universal Churches of the Kingdom of God and God's Grace International. The data presented were constructed, through ethnographic/netnographic research, in a dialogic perspective with the leaders and faithful interlocutors of these churches, a fact that allowed us to understand how these denominations present themselves as religious institutions, which articulate different strategies of participation in the social, political and social spheres. culture of Manaus. This implies a reconfiguration of the local religious field, as it challenges Catholic hegemony, presenting itself as the “legitimate religion”, at the same time that its rites tend to provoke a mimetic effect on other religious formations with which they compete. The result of this is the diversification and expansion of the religious field in Manauara, which is a perspective to understand that the rites are products of social forces and remain alive as a force of order/disorder, cohesion and social integration.
