Resumo

The waste resulting from the operational phases in companies in the forestry market, are normally considered by-products and, therefore, they are discarded or reused in an energetic way, however, this material has a greater potential, such as the generation of new products through agglutination, which may generate a new trade adding competitiveness between products of native and planted species. This research aimed to analyze the feasibility of using wood residue for production particleboards. As studied species were: Dinizia excelsa Ducke and Manilkara huberi (Ducke) Chevalier and a mixture of high density commercial species. The experimental design consisted of five treatments with five replicates each. Experimental panels with nominal density of 0,80 g.cm3 were used, using a castor oil-based resin with 10% and 15% percentages. The panels were pressed with a specific pressure of 10 MPa, a temperature of 100oC and a pressing time of ten minutes. The evaluations of the results obtained were compared with the ANSI A208.1 standard and the literature on particleboards of tropical species. The results obtained indicate the technical feasibility of using the residues from the forestry of amazon species for the production of particleboards, with emphasis on Manilkara huberi (Ducke) Chevalier, which, in general, presented the best results of the normative evaluation, however, all panels have potential for industrialization.
