Resumo
The Amazonic region despite being considered one of the most important regions to the worldwide ecosystem, that provides abundant natural resources of great economic value, even so it can suffer with the scarcity of qualified personnel to answer the challenges of amazonic development and of Manaus, capital and where there is the majority of the population density. Attempting to answer those challenges, the work force of each region goes molding itself as it can for the market and economy demands, by its own initiative and with the public policies stimulus of qualification and professional improvement. To know with more depth the school attendance situation of the Manaus population, as a whole, including to predict and dissert under the Active Economic Population (AEP) is what motivates this study. When the history of world education is analyzed then it is notable that countries which had devoted great importance to education and knowledge are nowadays the ones which holds better position in the economic and social scenario. Therefore, this study purposes to accomplish a careful diagnosis of Manaus work force, at the time range of 1991-2000. As for the specific plan, the work aims to identify the work force through the analysis of the productive sectors of economy; Evaluate the evolution of this work force’s school attendance and its respective economic level; Analyze the work development state, by the United Nations Human Development Report. The conceptual spot deals with the relation between population growth, education and economic development, or so, the qualification effort of the work force and its relevance on the improvement of people life pattern. As for the applied method at the study, its settles on confronting the specificity of the work force at the time range of 1990 to 2000, regarding the data of two demographic census produced by IBGE, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. So the mentioned data was soon analyzed by descriptive statistics, onto defining the inclination of the work force scholarity level and the economy sectors that has absorved more of this qualified contingent. For the social analysis, it was took for consideration the scholarity and income, because from this data crossing some conclusions can be drawed. First, it can not be assure for insufficient data that the AEP increase was favorable or not to the local economy. It is understandable, only according to few indicators, that more people are having access to elementary, high school and to university. According to the work force scholarity profile existing in Manaus between the years of 1991-2000 it can be observable that from the AEP: 4,1% did not posses any formal education, 29,2% had only a non-finished elementary school, while 20% had the complete elementary school level. By judging the statistics and in comparison to previous decades, the people quota that had gather more scholarity has increased expressively, resulting on 31,5% of the AEP with complete high school, while the finished undergraduates were limited to only 5% of the work force.
