“Do Senhor é a terra”: uma análise sobre o retorno das denominações pentecostais nas ocupações de terras em Manaus

Abstract

In this work, I study the return of Pentecostal denominations in the occupations of land in Manaus, as a ritual of denominational empowerment, based on the narrative of the foundation of the Church. The starting point of the thesis lies in the statement that the Pentecostal Churches today, holders of numerous capitals, initially did not make an option for the peripheries, they were pushed due to the poor financial conditions, and the presence of the Catholic Church in the central spaces. Therefore, this return movement is the point that we seek to understand. In order to have a better understanding of the Pentecostal movement, we scrutinized its origin from the Jewish feast, to the current format, which we call modern Pentecostalism, when it arrives in Brazil and Manaus. Taking the Amazon as a text, it can be said that from the first chroniclers to the most recent intellectuals, they projected a religious gaze on it, giving birth to a theology of possession, this journey which I called the Voyage of Religious Ideas. Finally, at the last moment, from the ethnographic method, we studied the planting of a Pentecostal Church in a land occupation in Manaus.
