Resumo
Several situations of environmental impact have become common in virtually the entire globe. Among the agents that impact the environmental are potentially toxic metals (MPT), contaminants that directly affect the metabolism of living beings and cause various diseases. Being widely publicized in recent decades, phytoremediation stands out as a soil remediation technique impacted by MPT. However, the sucess of the technique depends on the collection of plants phytoremediation the degraded area. This review presents a panel of the number of professionals and research groups in Brazil involved in phytoremediation studies and presents some studies of the area developed by Brazilian research groups. This information was obtained from searches in virtual databases of the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq) and studies in specialized sites. The results indicate that phytoremediation is consolidated in Brazil as an area expanding both the number of researchers involved as in developed studies.
