Phosphorus is an essential element in the composition of the biomolecules such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, DNA and RNA. However, the high exploitation of phosphorus leads to the depletion of its natural reserves, resulting in a possible global crisis of this element. In this context, recycling methodologies are imperative, and one of the viable alternatives is the use of microorganisms, which store phosphorus in polyphosphate granules. Considering the inestimable Amazonian biodiversity, it is probable that there are microorganisms carrying systems highly efficient in the capture and stock of phosphate and therefore suitable for its microbiological recycling. In this work, we collected and isolated 756 bacteria, from those, 400 were screened by the methodology of microdetermination of phosphate uptake. Seventy-one bacteria were efficient in phosphate uptake, especially Serratia marcescens (9rp1). The genomic analysis revealed the existence of, at least, three PST operons and the phylogeny of these operons suggest polyphyletic origin, i. e., they do not result of gene duplication, which can influence the sensitivity to the perception of the nutrient in the environment and the whole metabolic cascade resulting.
