Resumo
The electrical power is a well crucial for social and economic development of a modern society, but, in certain moments, this energy is the basis of environmental degradation. By presenting juxtaposed elements, this work aims to evaluate the environmental impacts of rural electrification in the life of the beneficiary population, motivated by public policies such as the Program for the universalization of Access to and Use of Electrical Energy – Luz para Todos implemented by the federal government in 2003. The universalization of electricity corresponds to the intention of correcting a deficit in the social historical perspective of enabling access to a right of citizenship essential to promoting sustainable local development and social inclusion. The purpose of evaluating focuses on the need to develop sustainability indicators for the guidance of public policies directed to the energy sector, the construction, this work was guided by the methodology Pressure-State-Response - PER, resulting in the construction of an array of indicators for evaluating public policies aimed at electricity sector, covering five dimensions of sustainability. Product bibliographical, documentary and field research had as Terra Preta do Limão, in the municipality of Barreirinha, Amazonas State. At work, it emphasized the concept of territory as a geographical space and social product (used and lived space), for although essential to the development, the provision of electricity cannot do without the knowledge of the reality of each location and the feasibility of a set policies that can support the participation and social inclusion.
