Resumo
This study aimed to evaluate the effects and biological potential of L-glutamine for in ovo feeding (IOF) at fertile eggs. This study was conducted at the Laboratory of Poultry Technology, Poultry Sector, Department of Animal and Vegetable Production (DPAV), College of Agrarian Sciences (FCA), Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), South Sector at the University Campus, Manaus, State of Amazonas, Brazil. Two trials were developed to evaluate the bioefficacy of L-glutamine for IOF. In the first trial, 315 fertile eggs Rhode Island Red (breeders with 32-weeks) were used. The experimental design was completely randomized with the treatments constituted by two controls and five solutions containing L-glutamine levels with 45 replicates (eggs) each. The variables evaluated were incubation yields (hatchability, embryo mortality and chick/egg correlation), serum biochemical parameters and gastrointestinal tract development (directly related organs and regions) of hatched chicks. In the second trial, 300 fertile eggs Rhode Island Red (breeders with 42-weeks) were used. The experimental design was completely randomized with the treatments constituted by two controls and three solutions containing L-glutamine and L-glutamine + ISP (Isolated Soy Protein), with 60 replicates (eggs) each. The variables evaluated were incubation yields (hatchability, embryo mortality and chick/egg correlation) and gastrointestinal tract development (directly related organs and regions) of hatched chicks. Statistical analysis was performed from software SAS 9.8 developed by SAS Institute Inc. The data were subjected to variance analysis, with the estimates of treatments of the first trial were submitted to polynomial regression at 0.01 and 0.05 of significance, and estimates of treatments of the second trial were evaluated by Tukey test at 0.01 and 0.05 of significance. The results of this study indicate that until 0.5% L-glutamine may be supplemented in ovo to chick embryos without negative influence on chick weight and gastrointestinal tract development, acting as serum biochemical metabolism regulator and obtaining better hatchability. The L-glutamine together with 1.0% ISP obtained medium hatchability, don't affected the intermediary embryo mortality and showed good gastrointestinal tract development.
