Resumo
The thesis aims at discussing the feast of native Amazonian inhabitants of the upper Negro River Region, in Northwestern Amazonia, border between Brazil and Venezuela, which is inhabited by 22 ethnic groups, descendants of these indigenous peoples and immigrants from the most diverse locations that get together in the pluriethnic festivity called "Festribal”, held in the town of São Gabriel da Cachoeira, state of Amazonas". The goal of this study is to analyze how the interethnic relations in urban centers take place in a celebratory context and look into the cultural interaction dynamics of the native inhabitants that take part in the festivity and their ritual performances through their mythical representations. Thus, we listen to the native inhabitants in an attempt to look at them "from their own perspectives" to understand how they deal with the complexities and identity dynamics in the only one celebration that represents them in the town.
