Resumo

Water is an essential element for maintaining life on earth, some human actions have been contributing to the degradation of biodiversity, despite the large amount of research on mitigating climate effects, pointing out solutions, studies prove that the population does not always appropriates this information, in view of the above, this work contributes to the communication between the academy and the population. Aiming to develop teaching material for environmental sciences based on the observation of how the students of the integrated courses of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Amazonas, Campus Lábrea, understand the use and conservation of water. As for the methodology used, the BARDIN content analysis and descriptive statistics, the collection instruments were, focus group, spoken map and questionnaire. Through this study, it was possible to identify a gap in the research literature on this subject, regarding the age group of young people, the need to improve scientific communication between academia and the community was identified, since most of the research participants are unaware of the recommendations of the experts. After identifying the students' environmental perception on the water theme, an informative booklet was created for teachers addressing the water theme, consisting of suggested lesson plans, a guide to information sources and a lesson plan model, the educational product was created from the perspective of scientific dissemination.
