Resumo
This study aims to contribute to the discussion of the indigenous community Agroatividade Wapishana Canauanim with the concept from a policy experienced by indigenous Wapishana located in the municipality of Indigenous Canauanim Cornwall - RR, which for decades fighting for their rights, caring for improved livelihoods, cultural and environmental enhancement, expressed in its customs and traditions. The timeframe of this study is established between 1960-2010, a period that especially Wapishana culture showed some changes in contact with other cultures. This relation of identity takes the form of a process in motion which constitutes over time, as a fundamental element of the sense of belonging or indigenous people instead of experiencing it. From the perspective of Wapishana this study was to objectify the relationships established between the indigenous people of indigenous land Canauanim, their cultural knowledge that comprises a symbolic - cultural dimension not only political but which develops freely with all the possibilities afforded by modern and traditional customs held by elders of the community and, lately, even vague form practiced in school. Thus, for the verification of object used qualitative methodology through participant observation as a methodological procedure orality to collect important information that would support the present and future generations can be used as an important tool for the study. With an emphasis on open interviews and ethnographic observation to the theories of the studies conducted on the Wapishana you can understand how they gave the location and intercultural contact these people with other people. In this study, we conducted an historical approach showing how they lived and territorializaram Wapishana around the twentieth century. This trip to the Indian past has become important, although it was possible to observe what has been lost since contact with the colonizers and what was kept, rebuilt and adjusted by the Wapishana Canauanim in the XXI century. Mainly approached aspects of agroatividade, which identifies the elements. Therefore, this study aims to show that Wapishana still in a process of resistance and ethnic and cultural reaffirmation inhabiting a territory considered insufficient for the future. Another concern of this study was to understand the socio-cultural changes, the different influences and meanings and collective trajectories of the community. Although, other cultures have strongly affected the Wapishana culture, it still maintains the identity and characteristics, is in the process of recovery for cultural strengthening. However, inevitably, they incorporated many elements of these cultures of contact, enabling the negotiation of their identities through their own knowledge and survival strategies. In this context, the bond of kinship and friendship that formed between communities in the region, contributes to the recognition of historical existence, referencing significant respects the rights in the places they occupy.
