Resumo

Air transport is one of the most dynamic sectors of the world economy as the growing commercial demand stimulates the aircraft industry to produce larger and more capable aircraft, able to carry more and more passengers and cargo, with greater speed and safety. The evolution of the mentioned sector directly impacts the relationship between the tire and the pavement of the airport runways because, when it comes to security, operations, takeoff and landing are the most critical procedures for a flight. Thus, the maintenance of these structures is of paramount importance to prevent the occurrence of accidents. A means of monitoring and maintenance of the pavement is done by friction measuring and macrotexture. This paper analyzes the average ratios of friction obtained from reports issued by Griptester equipment and macrotexture depths through the sand patch test on the Runway of Manaus International Airport / Eduardo Gomes (AM). This airfield constitutes the main Northern Region, because of its economic importance, by allowing the export of high value added arising from the production of the Industrial Pole of Manaus (PIM). The results indicate that, despite its high demand of aircraft movement, the friction index and macrotexture remained at a level considered safe. These factors are the result of the actions of pavement maintenance, such as taking rubber off and the recovery of the defective layer, and constant training of the responsible teams.
