Cartografia do olhar e produção de subjetividades na Amazônia

Abstract

This research investigated the expression of the child's gaze through experimentation with photography. The notion of experimentation was inspired by Deleuze's philosophy (2018c) in which the creative act of thought takes place in encounters with signs. In this case, the encounters took place between the aesthetic qualities of photography and the signs of a riverside community on the banks of the Solimões River in the municipality of Iranduba/AM. The research consisted of two dimensions: experimentation and cartography. Experimentation was a free process of image production and cartography was treated as a method conditioned by the imagery productions of experimentation. The interaction of the two dimensions generated a mapping of children's creative powers with the images. For this, the visual interests of four children about the landscape and the developments in the composition of images based on the aesthetic elements of photography were monitored and discussed. Following the gaze was a way to access the meanings produced by riverside children who led, through their perspectives and movements, the direction of this cartography of the gaze. The tracing of the senses was based on the images resulting from a primary aesthetic that unfolded into an intuitive aesthetic and thus moved, in the participants, the becoming of the look, as a creation of the self and as a production of subjectivity. It was found that the path taken by children's subjectivities in step with the images unfolded in aesthetic choices such as repetitions, intuitions, inventions and fables. It is concluded that the Amazonian aesthetic affects and composes children's eyes and summons them to explore and create images synchronized with lines, lights, colors, textures and rhythms of the Várzea plateau.
