Resumo

The objective of this thesis was to analyze the perdurability of family farming in the settlement of the Vila Amazonia, municipality of Parintins, Amazonas State, Brazil. Using the theoretical framework of systemic complexity this study involved the discussion of the interactions, organizations in the environmental system and cognition, self-organization and self-generation at different times of the historical process of human settlements. The methodology included reflex actions and interrelated social actors (farmers) with emphasis on networks of living systems and integration of the observer as part of the observed medium. Composing the unit complex, systemic phenomena, intensity, interference, inter-relations and subjects were analyzed in the set from the analysis categories: family farms and perdurability related to macro objective; settlements; socioeconomic organization; agro systems; and pluriactivity. In this process the settlement processes were analyzed by means of social mobility and commercial exploitation of family labor and the environmental system products. As for the socio-economic organization of farmers, the consolidation of primary groups and communities evolved into interaction processes and inter-relational complexes with secondary social groups emerging to social interaction networks, ensuring providers actions and behaviors of perdurability family agriculture along the decades. The multifunctionality of family farming and pluriactivity became working strategies for increments of monetary income in the family unit. Therefore, this multifunctional feature within the family unit has led to improvements and well-being, maintaining the productive and reproductive processes, resilience enablers in the environmental system. Added to this is a production system aimed at production and products for the self-supply of the family unit and generating surplus for monetary income increase, taking the workforce supported in social relations, and the predominance of sustainable features in agro-ecosystems and maintenance, recovery and environmental preservation systems, ensuring perdurability activities of permanence of the family farming.
