Análise de fatores para subsidiar modelagem de portal de suporte às startups de biotecnologia da Região Norte

Abstract

The objective of this study was to identify the key factors for the modeling of a portal to support biotechnology startups in the northern region of Brazil, aiming to promote the development of these companies with financial, operational and innovation sustainability. The research was conducted based on a comprehensive literature review and field research. Initially by a survey conducted online with biotechnology startups it was found that the barriers faced in the journey from "idea to market", are access to capital, availability of equipment, regulations, technological difficulties, and cash flow as the most pointed out. It was also verified by patent technology prospecting, if the green patents would be stimulating the startups, however, despite the non-exhaustive analysis, there was no indication that there would be this category of leverage. Next, we researched the stage of startups in operation, but still without revenue generation, called Vale da Morte, to understand the causes of failure to go through this dreaded phase and it was concluded that there are several motivators, but the recommendations and strategies suggest that the unpreparedness of companies is their greatest difficulty. The study, complemented with the survey of the profile, exclusively of biotechnology startups in the North region, indicate that the lack of financial resources is one of the main challenges, followed by revenue generation, unavailability of equipment and regional issues, such as logistics and inputs, are identified as the main difficulties faced. To address these difficulties, a support portal for biotechnology startups in the North region is proposed, with the provision of detailed information on regulations, guidance on intellectual property, promotion of strategic partnerships, educational resources, and access to financing.
