Resumo
This work presents the results of sedimentological and palynological analysis carried
out in approximately 230 m of core samples of the PBAT-15-43 borehole, where sedimentary
fácies and contact relationships were described among alluvial (base) deposits and fluvial
(top) fans of the Paleozoic Andirá and Arari formations from Amazon basin, respectively.
This borehole is located at Soares' Lake (Autazes, Amazon) and it was selected in function of
the good quality of the recovered cores, freely available by the Potassio do Brazil company.
Ten sedimentary facies were identified and clustered in three facies associations, denominated
informally as I, II and III. The facies association I were interpreted as fluvial with channel and
flood plain deposits. The association II, similarly, of fluvial environment includes facies from
processes of seismic nature and pen contemporaneous to the formation of alluvial deposits.
The association III were interpreted as an alluvial fan environment with deposits of
gravitational debris flows. Additionally palynological analysis in these formations endorsed
the age, and environmental interpretation of the final deposition process phase of the Permian
in the area. The inferior unit (Arari) was barren in palynomorphs. The Andirá Formation,
superior unit, contains a fairly well preserved palynoflora constituted mainly by the species
Lueckisporites virkkiae, Corisaccites alutas, Hamiapollenites andiraensis, H. karooensis,
Vittatina costabilis, V. saccata, V. subsaccata and Tornopollenites toreutos. Important species
of the Punctatisporites, Verrucosisporites, Limitisporites, Cycadopites and
Stratopodocarpites genera are also present. Elements of the paleomicroplancton (acritarchs)
were not detected. The sedimentologic data, corroborated by the recovered palynoflora
indicate that the sedimentation can be associated to the continental (fluvial-lacustrine)
environment, indicating a Late Permian age for the Andirá's strata formation.
