“A gente veio do interior sem saber muita coisa da capital”: vivências de paraenses interioranos em Manaus (1970-2014)

Abstract

This study reflects on the historical and social meanings of practices and experiences of Pará‟s migrants who came to Manaus from 1970 to 2014. From the establishment of the Manaus Free Zone, imbued by developing advertisements for the northern region, they come in the hope of better life, given that the interior is in need of public policies aimed at economic development. Thus, the city of Manaus received a significant number of inhabitants, while expanded to the point of occurrence of many occupations and with it the creation of new districts. We tried to approach this research three relevant themes on this population: the prejudice that these subjects has faced due to contention for the labor market; the reasons why they left the field; and the individual and collective strategies that were adopted to conquer a new space and meet the challenges found in the city. Thus, it was salutary one dialogue with documentary sources, bibliographies, newspaper and in any case with the analysis of oral sources for the result close to what was the reality of these subjects in the city.
