Cotas nas universidades: um olhar sobre as políticas de acesso, permanência e sucesso de estudantes cotistas no contexto Amazônico

Resumo

The research "Quotas in universities: a look at the policies of access, permanence and success of quota students in the Amazon context" is the result of the analysis of the contribution of law 12.711/2012, and the experiences and confrontations of quota students in universities in the region This research qualifies as a qualitative approach research, starting from the problem: how is the process of access, permanence and success in higher education of quota students in the Amazon? permanence and success) of quota students in universities in the Amazon. Its specific objectives are: Identify the ways of access, permanence and success of quota students in universities in the Brazilian Amazon; Describe the experiences and confrontations of quota students in graduation in the Amazon context; To analyze aspects of ethnic-racial relations experienced by quota students in the higher education in universities in the Brazilian Amazon. This work is arranged in 4 sections: the first, entitled “Affirmative Actions: from the world to Brazil”, brings a general analysis of the first movements of affirmative action in the world and its consequences in different countries and later the struggle of the black movement in Brazil. scenario that was characterized with the first impressions of affirmative action in Brazil. The second section, called “Structure of social relations in Brazil”, addresses the intertwining of indigenous, Portuguese and African peoples, the way in which the first Brazilians were constituted from the mixture of these three great peoples. The third section “Methodological paths” communicates the paths taken in this research that were carried out in a totally virtual environment, using tools such as Google Forms and Google Meet, having as primacy in the search for research subjects social groups Facebook, Telegram and WhatsApp, linked to universities in the northern region. As a result, we found that Law 12,711/2012 allowed a significant increase in black, brown and indigenous students in universities in the Amazon region, however, the permanence and success of these students depend on several factors that emerged over these ten years of quota policy that has been pointing out that it is necessary to offer the necessary conditions for the permanence of these students.
