Resumo

This research aims to analyze the contribution of the ―Folklore Festival‖ in shaping the cultural identity of children's early education in a public school in Manaus and investigate the picture that is built around this cultural event which, to some extent, influences the construction of identity from the cultural and social aspects. The research directs our gaze to the social relationships, values and concepts that occur around this event. The research is a qualitative approach and the technique used was the case study, considering the daily school as a space / time of representations and meanings. For theoretical support, we bring authors argue that the identity and cultural differences, drawing attention to the regional culture, which won meanings when seen as part of the history and, consequently, as cultural identity of children of kindergarten. As a result, we identified, in the school visited during the researches, that the ―Folklore Festival‖ is composed of different hues and presents its culmination a character that distance and approaches concepts and values, contributing to the formation of cultural identity of the child, since the practices around this activity nurture dialogue and reflection, revealing changes in the attitude, eating habits and vocabulary, allowing the construction of autonomy and oral expression.
