Resumo

As in most developed and developing countries, the aging of Brazilian population has been accompanied by the oldness of the time experienced by this segment, and corporate transformations and family arrangements. The aging of the social construction has greater visibility in the last decades of the twentieth century, often associated with demographic and epidemiological transitions. The spread of Chronic Renal Failure with the elderly people and their high risk are recognized as "public health problem", whose only care strategy in the face of disease is the constant need to dialyze. In this context, they suffer doubly: with their own process of loss of mental and physical capabilities and the constraints and limitations, that chronic disease imposes on the daily life of them, changing not only their general health, but also the relationship with the family. The aim of this study is to analyze the daily lives of elderly with IRC, users of SOS LIFE program and attended in the health units of Manaus, Amazonas State, characterizing them as socioeconomic and familiar situation, history of the disorder of the disease by detecting health services demanded by them, describing their daily lives among the living, care for and treat the disease, and their reaction to the death of their friends treatment. The methodology focused on the critical approach, qualitative / quantitative from the application forms and interviews with 24 of a total of 117 elderly people with IRC assisted by SOS LIFE program. The study found that most of them are low income, living in situation of social vulnerability and is from other cities of Amazonas, are unaware of the factors that led to the end of the disease and its attendant needs to dialyze every day. They use 28 de Agosto and João Lúcio hospitals as the gateway to the city's health system, making their procedures in private clinics, however, contracted by the SUS. The daily life of older people with chronic renal failure is suffered, sad, painful and is limited to the treatment process by hemodialysis, where they are required to hold at least three times a week, a process that takes the patient for up to twelve hours of travel to the clinic, screening and procedure, the other days of the week are aimed at their recovery to the next hemodialysis session, being permanent and naturali
