Treinamento de profissionais de saúde em utilização de equipamento de proteção individual em um hospital universitário – ensaio clínico randomizado

Abstract

BACKGROUND: The training of health workers needs improvement. In this way, the need for this research arises to train professionals working with COVID-19 Approaching their protection, as well as evaluating the area of methodology different from how to act it, teaching alternatives that meet the needs of the health area. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate two training strategies for health professionals, in the prevention of contamination during stages that may eventually promote intercurrences, especially aerosols; evaluate the knowledge before and after the training is carried out and provide adequate training in aerosol-producing procedures. Create audiovisual material to train professionals. METHOD: This is a randomized clinical study developed between June 2021 and August 2021. By randomization, the sample was likely to be divided into two groups: group 1 configuring a remote teaching methodology (G1) group 2, face-to-face methodology (G2) training by the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Participants were selected at three different moments online: before training (pre-test); after (post-test 1) and 60 days after training (post-test 2). RESULTS: Sixty-two health professionals were included, with a mean age of 44.3 years, the majority being female (72.6%). No statistical differences were observed between the different training groups. The best result of the sample was evidenced in post-test 1 (71.1% of correct answers). Group 1 stood out in the individual result of post-test 1, presenting 72.6% of correct answers. CONCLUSIONS: The training of professionals by the use of PPE brings positive results to the team and individual protection, both remotely and in person. The use of applications to acquire a proven and effective choice, data determination, and positive effectiveness in management.
