Resumo
In the Amazon region, the electricity supply presents serious problems, especially in isolated communities, since most of the energy used comes from the diesel and the cost of transportation of this oil too high. Many regional species can be used as feedstock for biodiesel, among them the babassu, passion fruit and the inajá were chosen as a source of study. The oils analyzed showed good results in their physico-chemical parameters, index all showed relatively low acidity, allowing the use of alkaline catalysis, were also carried out tests of peroxide value, saponification number, and viscosity and density. The babassu oil and inajá showed high stability, 28.64 and 25.96 h, respectively, they also had the lowest acidity. The biodiesel was done using potassium methoxide, after purification esters were dried and weighed to determine yield (% m/m) was then determined followed by physico-chemical parameters for measuring thermal stability and oxidative stability by the Rancimat method and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), as an alternative method
