Resumo

The aim of this study was to verify the presence of filling material (endodontic sealer, gutta-percha cone and fiberglass post) after the endodontic retreatment that followed the technique proposed by the authors, which consists of drilling the fiberglass post with a number 3 Largo drill followed by the use of the Reciproc Blue® R50 instrument. After the approval of the research ethics committee, the study was initiated. For this, 52 anterior and premolar teeth were needed, both superior and single root according to the inclusion criteria. All specimens were standardized at 15 millimeters, had their crowns removed by a double-sided diamond disc and were treated endodontically with the ProTaper Universal® rotary system up to the F3 instrument and filled with the gutta-percha cone corresponding to the aforementioned file. The specimens were allocated by a blind dentist in two groups; I without the fiberglass post cemented in the root canal and II with the size 1 DC-E Whitepost® fiberglass post from the FGM manufacturer cemented inside the root canal system. In the first group, retreatment was performed with the Reciproc Blue® R50 instrument, following the same instructions proposed by the manufacturer as if it were to perform endodontic treatment. The second group used the technique proposed by the authors, which consisted of; perforate the fiberglass post with a Largo drill number 3 coupled to a contra-angle and micromotor, after drilling, endodontic retreatment was performed with the Reciproc Blue® R50 file, according to the recommendations recommended by the manufacturer as if were to be carried endodontic treatment. After these procedures performed in groups I and II, the teeth were radiographed, sectioned with chisel and hammer and photographed by the digital microscope Dino Lite 2.0, where the generated images were analyzed to verify the quantity, the filling materials that still remained in the canal root and in which thirds of the roots. The results showed a statistical difference in the presence of residues when the groups were analyzed by digital radiography, however when the verification was made by the images captured by the microscope, there was no statistically significant difference, concluding that both groups still had the presence of obturator material in a that the difference was not statistically significant between them, demonstrating the efficiency of the technique proposed by the authors.
