Dificuldades enfrentadas por pessoas vivendo com HIV/AIDS para adesão ao tratamento: revisão integrativa

Resumo

INTRODUTION: Despite the increase in access to prevention, diagnosis and treatment, HIV continues to be an obstacle in public health. OBJECTIVE: To identify the difficulties faced by people with HIV/AIDS to adhere to treatment. METHOD: An integrative review was carried out of the literature indexed between 2013 and 2023 in the Latin American and Caribbean Literature (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE) databases. Articles published in English, Spanish or Portuguese, in full and made available online were included that: contained the terms “Cooperation and adherence to treatment”; “HIV test”; “Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome”; “Chronic Disease”; “Continuity of patient care” in the title, abstract or keywords. RESULTS: The review included 23 articles that highlighted difficulties such as socioeconomic factor and stigma as predominant factors for non-adherence to treatment for people living with HIV/AIDS. CONCLUSION: Through knowledge about these difficulties, public policies must be based on reducing them and optimizing adherence to drug treatment.
