Aplicação do modelo DMAIC no processo de paletização de carga em uma indústria de bebidas do PIM: um estudo de caso

Abstract

Beverage companies are in a fiercely competitive market where the pursuit of operational excellence is a principle for maintaining competitiveness, as it requires a focus on quality, cost reduction and improved productivity levels. In this line of analysis, which is about creating competitive advantage in the business by improving productivity, a company from the Industrial Park of Manaus (PIM) in the beverage sector developed, through the use of Six Sigma focused on the pallet logistics process, management tools that provide more efficient processes that integrate manufacturing with the quality of shipping processes, aiming to increase the operational efficiency of transportation. In this sense, this study aimed to present the main concepts of transportation logistics, quality management tools and Six Sigma tools, to describe the DMAIC model of the Six Sigma methodological procedure and demonstrate its application in the palletizing process through a case study in a beverage company of the Industrial Park of Manaus (PIM), as well as to demonstrate the results obtained through the practical application of the DMAIC methodological procedureThis study was conducted through a bibliographic survey of the concepts, methods, procedures of the quality tools, Six Sigma. As an information gathering procedure, secondary data were used. The collection technique for obtaining secondary data was based on consulting available data in the organization, contained in manuals, flow charts and other organizational documents. The same data collection tools and indicators were used to evaluate the implementation steps of the Six Sigma methodological procedure in the company. Process indicators were evaluated before and after the implementation of the Six Sigma methodological procedure in this company. A Six Sigma application model based on the DMAIC methodology in the palletizing process was presented and tested. Finally, we analyzed the results obtained in the studied processes and their contributions to improve the quality and efficiency of such processes. In this study, it was concluded that by applying the methodological procedure of the DMAIC model it was possible to determine and quantify the main defects and waste, analyze the causes and establish improvement actions in the palletizing process in the company, resulting in a reduction of 40% of daily movement of operators to supply the company's shipping area, the elimination of lack pallets in the shipping process, the elimination of solid waste disposal in the environment and the reduction of pallet expenses by 56% in the company in question
