Resumo
The present dissertation aimed to understand the universe of miningmetallurgical practice sand the psychic atmosphere in which telluric workers are
immersed - miners, blacksmiths, and all demiurges who deal with terrestrial
matter – creating themselves as they create the world. The research takes
place theoretically and is based on the work of Gaston Bachelard, in the two
routes that it occupies, both in the poetic essays, and in its epistemology,
especially in the concepts of creative imagination, provocation and matter,
presented throughout the essays Bachelardians, it ends up by assigning to this
research a character of revision of the society-nature relation, translated here
by the two-dimensional of "man-universe", expressed in the daily confrontation
between man and matter and consequently access to new research fronts to
understand the existential character of work for man. In order to analyze this
situation, we risk the reckless reign of Gaston Bachelard, in an attempt to
understand a mentality present in archaic myths and images, but present in
modern man through the cosmos of the four elements: Fire, Air, Water and
especially the last physical and philosophical dwelling place of man, the Earth.
