Resumo
In this work the SnSe was produced by two routes of synthesis, by mechanical alloying and simple melting technique. For both SnSe synthesis processes, the Sn and Se elementary powders were used in the nominal composition of Sn-50%Se in mols. Through the X-ray analysis of the sample synthesized by the mechanical alloying technique, a very fast nucleation of the alloy was observed in orthorhombic layers of SnSe with remarkable structural stability during the milling process however, the SnSe alloy that was milled up to 46 h showed a strong dependence with the milling's atmosphere. By the fusion technique of the elementary powders of Sn and Se, the SnSe was obtained in very oriented layers. The analysis of the crystallite size and microstrain of the alloys produced showed the efficiency of mechanical alloying in the production of nanostructured powders with a high degree of defects in their structure, on the other hand, the sample produced by melting process presented a low percentage of defects in their structure with crystallite size in the order of micrometers.
