Aplicação de ferramentas do sistema de produção Michelin Manufacturing Way (MMW): um estudo de caso

Abstract

This research focuses on using some tools from the Michelin Manufacturing Way (MMW), aiming to improve performance in the vulcanization perimeter of motorcycle tires in a factory in the city of Manaus, based on the implementation of the Bib Standard tool, the daily management given by MDP and the OR approach, which generates greater autonomy and a sense of responsibility, in which we focus on the issue of occupational safety. The research proposal is to share about this production system, little publicized and known in the market, through the 3 items mentioned and, it was expected to obtain excellent results after the practical application of the project, linked to the theoretical concept of the Production System and the tools. The big challenge was changing the culture, the mindset from management to operational, prioritizing the topic so that they could guarantee perpetuity after investing time and money in the perimeter under study. But the question is: there a better production system than another to apply in this context? This is the answer that this study will try to answer. With the implementation of the tools mentioned, we obtained some gains of great relevance and others of lesser importance, here I mention those of greater relevance: 15% reduction in scrap membranes needed to cook the tire, 18% increase in average production and several safety gains, providing savings of 2 million reais per year for this Organization.
