A representação do indígena Sateré Mawé nas toadas de Boi-bumbá de Parintins-AM

Abstract

This research has as studying object the Boi-Bumbá toadas from the Parintins' Folklore Festival which representing the Sateré Mawé indigenous people. Trough a decolonizing perspective, Our general objective was to understand how the Sateré Mawé indigenous people has been represented in the Boi-Bumbá toadas. The question that presided over the investigation focused on the following question: Through which theoretical and methodological orientations have the Boi-Bumbá toadas composers represented the Sateré Mawé indigenous people? To answer that question, it was necessary using methodological tools and theoretical guidelines from different areas of Social Sciences, such as: Sociology, Anthropology, Literature, History and Arts, and so on. The methodology took the qualitative approach perspective and also as a method, It was used the content analysis. Based on established categories which took the decolonization principles, the method comprised the collection and the analysis of the toadas which represent the Sateré Mawé indigenous people. We also used interviews in order to increase the analytical spectrum beyond the message (toadas), we broadly focused on the communication process, we included the study of the sources, the emitters (composers). We allied the results of the content analysis with the information obtained in the interviews, and with that we were able to rescue the Sateré Mawé indigenous people protagonism, we produced heterogeneous knowledge, we researched their historical origins and also we promoted the deconstruction of the Sateré Mawé indigenous people' preconceived image. We believe it is possible to affirm that the Boi-Bumba toadas spreads a decolonizing perspective of the Sateré Mawé indigenous people, given the fact that they have had the porpose to disseminate and they efficiently have informed about indigenous diversity in Brazil.
