Resumo

The negative effects caused to the environment by CO2 emissions has provoked, in the last years, the development of researchs for new materials, among these the metakaolin, used as pozzolanic material for production of aluminosilicate. This study aimed to get an aluminosilicate mortar activated by alkaline solution using metakaolin as replacement material for Portland cement. To obtain aluminosilicate board was used kaolinite clay retained in the sieve ABNT 200 (0.074 mm) and calcined at a temperature of 800° C for 2 hours, silica fume and sodium hydroxide. To obtain the Portland cement mortar was used CP IV-32 and as fine aggregate it was used washed sand retained at the sieve ABNT 200 (0.074 mm). The kaolinite clay and metakaolin were characterized by chemical and mineralogical assays using fluorescence techniques and x-ray diffraction, and through physical testing using the volumetric flask "Le Chatelier” and Blaine air permeability apparatus. The mechanical performance of the cylindrical specimens was obtained in strength tests to simple compression, and the aluminosilicate boards and Portland cement was obtained in flexural strength tests on four points. The results enabled to evaluate the physicochemical and mineralogical characteristics of the raw material of aluminosilicate and also allowed an evaluation of the mechanical resistance plates, where it was observed that Portland cement plate showed maximum average strain to the higher flexion of 5.3 % in relation of aluminosilicates of the plate.
