Estudo etnobotânico do uso de fitoterápicos na odontologia na cidade de Manaus

Abstract

The official recognition of herbal medicine in dentistry in Brazil was accompanied by several gaps in scientific research on medicinal plants, specifically for plant species with applications in diseases of the oral cavity. The state of Amazonas, specifically the city of Manaus, does not have a diagnosis of the applicability of medicinal plants in Dental care services. Therefore, we propose to make a diagnosis of the marketing and use of medicinal plants in dental care clinics in the city of Manaus. We first conducted an ethnobotanical study to identify key plants displayed and used for dental problems in the city of Manaus, where he participated as interviewees users of dental services and dental surgeons of the City of Manaus. A survey of medicinal plants, for dental use, marketed by the healers in the markets and local fairs. Data were tabulated and reported using descriptive statistics with data presentation percentage of frequency. The results showed that the healers sell some plants for oral pathological changes and the most sold Sara tudo (14.89%), Pedra ume cãa (Aulomyrcia sphareocarpa) at 10.64% and Crajiru (Arrabidaea chica) with 8.51% and that only 8% of dentists prescribe the use of the same, with only 7.61% of patients in the municipal use medicinal plants for oral pathological changes. It was concluded that the herbal medicines sold in Manaus are used empirically and that new public health policies should place the use of oral herbal medicinesto public health from the city of Manaus
