Resumo
The apprehension of environmental collapse is currently one of the main concerns of
contemporary society. The current pattern of economic growth, which works in a straight and
infinite line while the Earth system operates in cycles, the result is a civilizing crisis that
impoverishes the soil, contaminates water, extinguishes species, devastates forests and
saturates the atmosphere with carbon dioxide. carbon. In an attempt to curb this insanity,
international organizations, governments, NGOs, social movements and civil society establish
economic agreements and treaties, which are not having the expected effects to solve the
environmental problem. Among so many ways to fight for a healthier planet, education is an
important way to teach that we need to rethink our relationship with nature. The research
sought to analyze art as a pedagogical practice to raise awareness about environmental
collapse through music and illustration as an educational resource, aiming to awaken the
interest of students in the indivisible relationship between economy, politics, society and
nature. The study was carried out at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and
Technology of Amazonas – IFAM, Campus Coari. Located on the outskirts of the urban area
of the city of Coari -AM. The participants were integrated high school students from the 1st-
year classes of courses: Administration, Agriculture, IT for the Web and Maintenance and
Support in IT, totaling 187 students aged between 15 and 17 years. Guided by a quali-
quantitative approach, in which the exploratory questionnaire applied to the groups, was not
the central point of the research, but it contributed statistically to a better understanding of the
results, the method chosen for analyzing the illustrations was semiotics, as it best meets what
if he had planned. The study ends with the certainty of having contributed with the sharing of
knowledge to the teaching of environmental sciences, reaffirming the arts as an important
mechanism for the construction of knowledge capable of promoting reflection on issues
related to environmental collapse. In the case of research, the use of music and illustration
significantly contributed to the assimilation of knowledge by the students.
