Abstract

The work permeates the life story of the subjects, promoting meanings for their existences. When there is an interruption of this dynamic, it is possible that the subject realizes a crisis, as in retirement. In the militarism, the government employee is strongly linked to the institution, which may make it difficult for living the retirement. The research had as objective to investigate the links and the processes of identification of the military police officer at the moment of their passage to the military retirement considering the psychoanalytical interpretation of the speeches. This study also aims to: analyze in military police speeches the link that they establish with the work and its implications in the passage to the retirement; identify which defense mechanisms police officer in military retirement make use of during this transition stage; and to problematize the possible reflections that the moment of passage to the retirement has on the identification processes of the subjects and their implications on their subjectivities. The research, in a descriptive and exploratory level, is of qualitative approach. The semi-directed interview technique, the Drawings-Story with Story procedure were used. Participants are military police officers, who are two years away to retirement. The data collected in the interviews were analyzed according to the Discourse Analysis (DA) method, followed by the proposal of Souza (2014). For the interpretation, the psychoanalytic framework was used. The Drawings-Story with Story procedure was analyzed based on the theories and practices of Psychoanalysis, Projective Techniques and clinical interview. The results demonstrated that the subjects perceive the military retirement as a victory, because of the risks faced daily in the career and because it indicates the fulfillment of their oath. As they assimilate this and approach the fulfillment of the thirty years of service, these professionals are moving away from the institution and opening up to the possibility of exercising other functions, assuming new identities. The process is permeated by some defense mechanisms with predominance of the sublimation capacity at the end of this transition stage.
