Resumo
Context: The Internet of Things (IoT) is a term that refers to the integration of various devices and technologies, enabling them to interact with each other to provide a range of services. However, the development of IoT-based systems poses challenges due to the specific requirements of these systems. Objective: The goal is to supply support to software engineers during the requirement elicitation process. We have proposed two requirement elicitation techniques: Sensorina Map and Mind IoT. Method: To formulate these techniques, we adopted an iterative approach grounded in experimental studies to gather evidence and define the methods. Results: The studies show the feasibility of applying the proposed techniques and illustrate their suitability for eliciting IoT requirements. We conducted the analysis based on the feedback supplied by invited participants who evaluated the utility and ease of use of the techniques in the scenarios where they were applied. These insights play a crucial role in verifying the practical viability of the techniques. Conclusion: In this manner, this work contributes to the advancement of knowledge in the field of IoT system requirements by providing the techniques that should assist software engineers in addressing the inherent peculiarities of IoT systems.
