Resumo

This research focuses on the vibrant and diverse Slam Poetry movement in Manaus, an artistic phenomenon that has gained increasing notoriety in the city's effervescent cultural scene. The study focuses on the Slam poets themselves, who come from different backgrounds in the city and gather in public spaces to fight poetic battles, using the word as a weapon of confrontation. The study seeks to ascertain how Slam Poetry can be seen as a socio-cultural rhizome, highlighting the construction of the poet's consciousness as a subject of the self. Slam/Poetry is an integral part of the identity of the artist, who often experiences street situations, violence and various forms of discrimination and prejudice. It is a form of artistic expression that is still poorly valued and made visible by public policies, which can lead to discouragement and anguish among artists who are fighting for their work to be recognized. The central question guiding this study is the idea that the Slam/Poetry artist is in constant dialogue with himself and his conscience during the process of poeticizing, a moment in which he exposes his anxieties to society, including the lack of support for this cultural expression. The research methodology followed the guidelines of rhizomatic qualitative approaches. Among the multiple results, it was clear that Slam/Poetry is an artistic expression capable of transforming consciences, welcoming and supporting poets who find themselves on the margins of society and in a state of social vulnerability. We must recognize the social importance of this study for the enrichment of science, contributing, above all, to giving visibility to Slam poets in Manaus, strengthening their socio-cultural and artistic identities.
